What Is the TBI Waiver Program?
The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waiver is a New York State Medicaid program that provides home and community-based services to individuals who have suffered a traumatic brain injury — supporting their recovery and helping them live as independently as possible.
Who Qualifies?
- Individuals aged 18–64 with a documented traumatic brain injury
- Must be enrolled in Medicaid
- Must require nursing-home level of care
- Must be able to safely live in the community with support
Services Covered
- Structured day program and community integration
- Residential habilitation support
- Behavioral supports and intervention
- Assistive technology and adaptive equipment
- Skilled nursing, physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- Transportation to medical appointments
